Northern Kentucky Announces 2008 Spring Graduation Dates

Northern Kentucky University has released its’ 2008 Spring Commencement date. The ceremony will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the newly built Bank of Kentucky Center in Highland Heights. No tickets are required for Commencement.Line up for the commencement processional will take place at the University Center on NKU’s campus. The processional from UC to The Bank of Kentucky Center will depart at 9:15 a.m. Graduates are asked to arrive at the graduate assembly area in the University Center’s Main Cafeteria and Lobby at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 10. In the event of inclement weather, the graduate assembly area will be moved to The Bank of Kentucky Center. Please check http://commencement.nku.edu for updates as they become available.

Campbell County Spring Clean-Up

Campbell County will be conducting its’ annual Spring Clean-Up event on March 28, 29, and 30 from 8am – 6pm.

Similar to previous years, litter and general debris will be accepted at three locations: the Campbell County Police Station off U.S. 27, Pendery Park off Route 8 in Melbourne, and the Campbell County Transportation Center on Racetrack Road in Alexandria. Liquids will not be accepted at any site.

The Campbell County Police Station and Pendery Park locations will only accept litter and general debris that may have accumulated over the year in your house, barn, or garage. The Campbell County Transportation Center will not only accept litter and general debris, but also scrap metal, appliances (including those with Freon), car batteries, tires (limited to four per vehicle), and empty propane tanks with the valves removed.

Newport Mayor Guidugli files for City Commissioner

Newport Mayor Tom Guidugli has filed to run for the Newport Commissioner position. The mayor, who is in his fourth term of office, is unable to run for mayor again due to term limits.

With the rapid growth and increasing popularity of Newport as an entertainment area, it appears that Guidugli is wanting to keep track of the growth that he oversaw as mayor of Newport.

Mayor Guidugli was unable to be reached for comment.
